In tho case against Thomson, a Maori, for pushing Rogers from a railway carriage when coming from the, Pakakura > races, evidence showed that. Rodgers, when pushed, fell over the shoulders of a man sitting on-'tho edge of the carriage platform, thus falling clear of tho track, otherwise he would doubtless have been killed. Prisoner, who protested no intention of pushing the man over, was fined five pounds, or one month’s imprisonment. Lost in the Bush. jXail? Napier, To-day. Andrew Jensen, travelling to Palmerston North on April 25, lost himselfin tlje,. bush, and was attacked by wild cattle, and took refuge in a tree. A fog came on, and at night he completely lost himself. He supported himself on berries and roots, and turned up at Masterton on Tuesday, being directed to the township by hearing cocks crowing. It is stated' that A man named David Lee, vi ho died at Havelock on the 10th inst., was stabbed two month’s previously witji a.file in the region of the heart by a woman named Rankin, with whom he cohabited. He was attended for this stab by a Havelock quack, and , a day or two before his death he was seen by Df Cummock. It is supposed that the latter gentleman knew nothing of thp stab, and when Lee died he gave a certificate to the effect ’ that death resulted from typhoid fever. The. police heard nothing of the case until five days ago, but have since presecuted enpuiries, with the result that Lee’s body will be exhumed and a post, moriam examination made. Inspected Goodsaft has gone to Havelock' to superintend the arrangements for the inquest, and to conduct, the case for ,the police. ? Three Ruffians- . Dunedin, To-day.
