LATEST FROM EUROPE[per reuter’s agency.] England Protests. London, May 21. It has transpired that the Right Hon. Earl Granville, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, has referred to the Tunisian treaty in recent despatches to the French Government, emphatically protesting that France will be expected to fulfil the existing treaty obligations, and to respect privileges that England has hitherto enjoyed in connection with the government of the Tunisian principality. The Wool Sales. At the wool auction to-day, 3,200 bales were offered. The bidding, was excited. Australian tallow has fisen 6d per cwt. ; best beef is quoted at 35s ; best mutton, 365. Affairs in Ireland. London, May 22. The condition of Ireland continues fo cause grave anxiety to the Government. Six flying columns of troops have been organised to assist in enforcing the service of writs in the disaffected districts.
