THE MURDER OP ABDUL AZIZ,

(BY CABLE.) CoNstAn Tino r L r:, May 17. An inquiry has been held into the confession of the four domestics, of the Teharagan Palace, that they were concerned in the murder of Sultan Abdul Aziz, in 1876. The evidence adduced has led to the accusation of Midhat Pacha (who was Grand Vizier at the time of the Sultan’s death) of complicity in the crime, and an Imperial decree has accordingly been issued, deposing Midhat Pacha from the position he now occupies as Governor of Smyrna, and ordering his immediate arrest. News has, however, since been received from Smyrna to the effect that Midhat Pacha has fled from the city. Later. Intelligence has been received by the Government from Smyrna that Midhat Pacha has not, as at first stated, fled from the city; but has taken refuge in the French Consul’s house, and has appealed to the French and foreign Consul’s for protection from arrest by the Turkish authorities.
