[per rbcteb’s agency.] Oats. Melbourne, May 12. There is a better demand for New Zealand oats, which are now quoted at 2s gd to 3s 4d. Postal Union. The Victorian Post Office is propounding a scheme for an Intercolonial Postal Union. A Blaze. Sydney, May 12. A serious fire occurred here to-day on the premises occupied by J. J. Cunan, wholesale grocer, 600, George street, resulting in the partial destruction of the building. The stock was also much damaged by fire and water. The insurances on the building and stock amount to Li 2,000, including L4OO in New Zealand insurance offices, and will fully cover the loss. Another large fire occurred to-day in the Haymarket, causing the total destruction of a store occupied by Messrs Harris and Co., general produce merchants. The stock and building were insured for L 2,000 in the National Company of New Zealand. Arrived. Albany, May 12. The P. and O. Company’s steamship Kashgar, with the inward Suez mails, dated London, April Bth, arrived in King George’s Sound to-day.
