FOOTBALL.

One of the best games yet played took place on Wednesday on the Domain ground. There was a good muster, and after a severe struggle the Captain’s side were declared the victors with two goals, knocked by Hodder and Groves to their score to their opponent’s nil. There was a decided improvement in the style of play. A meeting of the members of the Ashburton Football Club was held on Wednesday evening, Mr A. Fooks occupying the chair, About ten members were in attendance. The colors of the Club and uniform were altered as follows—viz., to naval blue jersey and stockings, white knickerbockers, and blue and white cap. A challenge was received from the South Canterbury Football Club, and it was decided to accept the same with the proviso that the match should take place in Ashburton. The other business was of a formal character, and the proceedings were brought to a termination with a vote of thanks to the chair.
