THE ELECTORAL ROLL.

To the Editor, ■ ; , Sir, —I trust there is no “ sthmpg” ,of the electoral roll going on. I hear of one prominent politician making' up “ books” of claims, and hot long ago a feebler effort, . coming from a different was made ■ to place on the roll a number of persons who might be expected to vote straighten case of need. It was recently discovered that, by a moat unfortunate, mischance, the names of the bulk of the electors resident in that hotbed of political heresy, the Malvern district, had disappeared from. , the roll; and, although the( Registration ** t Ofhcer has since given ah explanation of the circumstance which seems: to: exculpate him from blame, .the fact remains that, but for the provideptial discovery pi the accident, a numerous body of electors of-objectionable political opinions would have found themselves unable to vote at the next general election. The moral is that every person who is entitled to'.have his name placed on the electoral roll—especially if he be an anti-Hallite—should’ take care to see that his name is actually . there. The time for the election is rapidly drawing nigh, and it may turn out ’ that political questions of a mpre excjting nature than now appear will have -to be decided at the hustings. I shall be happy to give any information whioh I possess, regarding the qualification and registra- T tion of electors, to any person who may j wish to get his name on the roll, and will take the trouble to call upon ,me.—I am., Ac., 0.
