At St. Patrick’s Cathedral last night, Archbishop Steins announced his resignation of the Auckland diocese through ill health and intended departure for Europe. Accidental Death. Gisborne, To-day. Alexander Buchanan, the proprietor of the Ormond Hotel, met with his death last night by a fall from his horse. He leaves a wife< and five children. One More. Walker’s Hotel at Awanui, on the east coast, has been burnt down. It was insured for Ij3oo in the South British Company. Accident on the RailwayWanganui, To-day. A man named Thomas Carroll, a farm laborer, was run over and killed at Kaiiwi by the northern train on Saturday night.
