ASHBURTON HIGH SCHOOL.
A meeting of the Board of Governors of the above school was held in the County Cohncil Chambers tb-day. Present —Dr Trevor (Chairman), and Messrs Wright, Friedlander, Walker, and Coster.
NEW CHAIRMAN. The election of a Chairman for the ensuing year resulted in Dr Trevor’s reelection unopposed. The Chairman remarked that the meeting had been principally called for the purpose considering the application made by the head master regarding the insufficiency of the teaching staff. Mr Wright said this'was merely a question of funds. What amount had the income of the Board realised for the past year ? The Chairman replied that for the year ending May next the receipts had been estimated at L 432 17s fid. An increase might be looked for in the coming year. It was finally resolved that the position of second master be offered to Mr Buchanan at a salary of L 225 per annum. SCHOOL . IMPROVEMENTS. Some minor details in this direction were left in the hands of the Chairman. The meeting then terminated.
