The first event on the card was the Trial Stakes, of 50 sovs., for horses that have not won 200 sovs. in one event, or two events, each of the value of 100 sovs. or upwards, up to time of starting. Maidens at starting allowed—For three-year-olds, 3lbs ; four years, 71bs ; five years and upwards, 101 b. Weight for age ; distance, about 1J mile. Mr H. Nautilus started away with the lead, and was soon overhauled by Sir Garnet. A neck and neck race ensued, Sir Garnet winning by half a length. Time—2min lojsec.
