[per reutbr’s agency.] Closed. Melbourne, April 27. The Intercolonial Meteorological Conference has closed. The Ferret Caught. Melbourne, To-day. A steamer named The India, which recently arrived here from Mauritius, has been seized by the Commissioner of Customs for sailing under a false register. The vessel is understood to be the Ferret, which mysteriously disappeared from Glasgow at the beginning of February last, leaving a numocr of valueless bills in payment of its debts. A Distinguished Visitor. Professor Renlaur, German Commissioner to the Melbourne Exhibition, will shortly proceed on a visit to New Zealand. Intolerance. The Melbourne Presbytery has been sitting for the past two days in connection with the case against the Rev. Charles Strong, in reference to his article on “ The Atonement,” in the Victor ian Review. The Presbytery has adjourned, without as yet arriving at any decision.
