RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
ASHBURTON. —To-Day. (Before his Worship the Mayor and W. C. Walker, Esq., J.P.) Drunkenness Whilst in Charge of i Horse.—For this offence a previous offender was fined L2, and 2s 6d costa of stabling. The same offender was .fined 20s for using obscene language ; and for making use of abusive language to the police was also fined 20s. Drunkenness. A prisoner, who appeared on a charge of drunkenness, and who pleaded "it as his first offence, was dismissed with a caution. He appeared to have a bad memory. Lunacy —Thomas Austin, on the certificates of Drs Trevor and Stewart, was committed to the Sunny side Asylum.
