Auckland, Yesterday. Flying Stakes.— Sir George, 1 ; Maid of Honor, 2 ; Slanderer, 3. Handicap Steeplechase.— Sportsman, 1 ; Whakahiki, 2. The Autumn Handicap.— Foul Play, 1 ; Kenilworth, 2 ; King Quail, 3. Selling Race.— Paramena, 1 ; My Dream, 2 ; Ratcatcher, 3.
Shouts Handicap. Seven horses started. Mr M'Douald had Paramena and Foul Play engaged, and elected to send them for it without declaring to win with either. Coming into the straight both jockeys were at the whip, and a splendid race ensued, Foul Play winning by a length. Mr M'Donald was shouldered and loudly cheered. Consolation Stakes. The Slander filly beat Ratcatcher by a length. HOKITIKA RACES. Hokitika, Yesterday. At the second day’s races the attendance was good, and the weather fine. Westland Handicap. —Mr Frith’s Greyhound, 1 ; Mr Brimble’s Whalebone, 2 ; Mr Osborne’s York, 3. Farmer’s Race. —Kumara, 1 ; Hard Times, 2. Ladies’ Purse. —Hero, 1 : Native, 2.
