ASHBURTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

Gift Auction and Bazaar. A gift auction andbazaar in connection with the Presbyterian Church, was held to-day, in the Town Hall. The articles displayed on the stalls, five in number, (excluding that set apartfor refreshments) were of so varied a . character that any attempt at particularising the same would prove an utter failure, suffice it to say they included specimens of needlework by the ladies of the congregation, and presents from friends, of pot plants, sacks of corn, &c. These were under the charge of Mesdames Orr, Reid, Rutherford, Dunn, Baxter, Stott, Robinson, and the Misses Gavin, who were untiring intheir efforts to effect sales. The refresh! ment stalls was entrusted to the care o, the Messrs Houston (2), Hepburn' (2) Ross and Jamieson (2), and the viands displayed were of a most tempting character; the boon of a cup of tea or coffee being also obtainable; Mr Bullock officiated at the auction sale. The attendance throughout the day has been of a somewhat limited character, but will doubtless improve this evening.
