CRICKET.

ASHBURTON 0.0. v- MOUNT SOMERS 0.0, This match, which was decided in the first innings, terminated in favor of the home team by 46 runs. The visitors were very unfortunate in the early part of their first innings—the

first five wickets going down before the united efforts of Messrs Fagan and Wix for a total of 10 runs. Bain was the first to make any stand against these

troubles, but on the eve ot his entering double figures was caught by Mayo off Shury. Lovell who followed, just reached the coveted goal when he was dismissed for 10 by Fagan. The rest failed to make any stand whatever. In Ashburton’s second innings Fooks, Denshire and Fagan succeeded in reaching double scores, the two former totting up 15 a-piece and the latter 12. The last wicket fell to a total of 66, making a grand total of 161. Mount Somers followed on, the light being very bad, and lost 7 wickets for 69 runs, Potts and Robinson heading the list with 16 each. The following are the scores:—
