{Per Neuter's Agency.) Murdered by Islanders. Sydney, To-day. The schooner Leslie has arrived from the Solomon Islands and reports that the master was murdered there by natives, and that a rumor was cuirent when she left that Captain Laurie, of the schooner Black Hawk, had also been murdered. Scarcity of Water. News from the Mount Brown diggings states that the water there is exhausted, and the population has shifted six miles. One man perished from exhaustion while proceeding to the field, and it is feared great loss of life will take place unless rain falls. Exhibition Awards. Melbourne, March 11. The following further Exhibition awards have been announced :—First order of merit—Robert Cleave (Invercargill), P. Cunningham and Co. (Christchurch), J. Preston (Palmerston, Otago), and R. Wilkin and Co. (Christchurch), for rye grasses ; E. H. (Christchurch), for linseed; Duncan and Son (Christchurch), for seeds and fescue. Second order of merit—E. H. Banks (Christchurch), Job Vile (Masterton), and W* Kelly (Papanui, Canterbury), for rye grasses; E. H. Banks (Christchurch), for buckwheat ;R. Wilkin and Co. (Christchurch), for cocksfoot. Third order of merit—Duncan and Son (Christchurch), for cocksfoot.
