(Per Reuter’s Agency.) Monetary and Commercial. London, March 8. Consols are unchanged at New Zealand 5 per cent. 10-40 loan lias advanced to ex div.; 5 per cent 1889 loan remains at no. The markets for Australian and New Zealand breadstuffs and Australian tallow are without quotable change. The Wool Sales. At the wool sales to-day, 8,800 bales were offered, and more demand was experienced, at a slight improvement in prices. The number of bales withdrawn from sale so date is 14,000, out of 158,900 catalogued since the opening. Bank Dividend. The Bank of Australasia has declared a dividend of six per cent, for the half year. Arrests in Ireland. Twenty persons have been arrested in Ireland on warrants issued by the Viceroy under the Coercion Act. More Disorder in the Commons. In the House of Commons to-day a disorderly scene again occurred. Mr O’Donnell, the member for Dungarvon, was most unruly, and defied the Chair in violent language. He was then, by the Speaker’s orders, suspended for the remainder of the sitting. Arrest of Michael Boyton. London, March 9. Michael Boyton, the chief paid organiser of branches of the Land League, and who was one of the traversers in the recent State prosecutions, has been arrested in Ireland under the Viceroy’s warrant. He contends that, as he is an American subject, his arrest is illegal, and he claims the protection of the United States Government.

A severe storm has been experienced in Hobson’s Bay, and fears were entertained for the safety of three persons who had been out in a whaleboat, inspecting the lighthouse, but they arrived all safe late at night. Exhibition Awards. (Dunedin), for landau. Honorable mention —W. Moor and Sons (Christchurch), for brougham. The Reform Bill. Melbourne, To-day. In the Legislative Assembly, last night, the debate on Mr Murray Smith’s motion for a conference of the two Houses on the Reform Bill was concluded, and, on a division being taken, the proposal was rejected by 40 to 33. Mr Graves, Sir John O’Shannessy, and Sir Bryan O’Loghlen, voted with the minority. South Australian Politics. Adelaide, To-day. The South Australian Ministry has resigned, and a reconstructed Ministry has been formed by Mr Morgan as follows : —Morgan, Chief Secretary ; Fouler, Colonial Treasurer ; Symon, Attorney-General; Playford, Commissioner of Lands; Hawker, Minister of Works ; Basedon, Minister of Education. It is considered probable that a modification of the policy set forth in Mr. Morgan’s recent manifesto will be favored by the new Cabinet.
