Adelaide wheat ex warehouse, 50s; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 345; New Zealand wheat, ex ship, 4533 Australian beef tallow has advanced is per cwt, and is now quoted at 33s 6d 3 best mutton tallow remains at 36s 6d. The Wool SalesAt the wool sales to-day, 8,000 bales were catalogued. There was a fair demand. Board of Trade Returns. The Board of Trade returns for the past month published to-day showed that the imports amounted to 1,36,625,000, being an increase of L 3,375,000 as compared with the corresponding month of last year. The exports reached a total of £,16,812,500, and show an increase of 1/313,500 under the same comparison. The Reported Armistice Confirmed. In the House of Commons to-day the Premier was questioned regarding the statement in the Daily News that a week’s armistice had been proclaimed in the Transvaal. Mr Gladstone, in reply, confirmed the announcement, and added that the armistice had been agreed to to enable the Boer President to reply to the conditions of peace which had been submitted to him by Sir Evelyn Wood. Mr Gladstone further stated that during the time of the armistice Sir. Evelyn Wood would be allowed to revictual the British garrison in the Transvaal. The Judges on the Situation in Ireland. London, March 8. The Irish Judges of Assize, in their charges to the Grand Juries at the Courts which opened yesterday in Irish provinces, again took occasion to refer to the alarming state of the country, and deplored in forcible terms the continued occurrence of such an enormous amount of undetected crime. Provisions for the Troops. Capetown, March 8. Intelligence has been received from Natal that, taking advantage of the provisions of the armistice with the Boers, Sir Evelyn Wood has already despatched convoys of provisions to the British garrisons at Pretoria, Walkelstoom, Standesta, and other places in the Transvaal.
