(f'rv Hrnta's Atjcncy.) The Wool Sales.’ London, March 2. At the wool sales to-day, 7,000 bales were catalogued, making the total offered since the opening 120,500 bales, of which 10,000 bales have been withdrawn. The tone of to-day’s auction was dull. Proposed Increase of the British Army. It is announced that the Right Hon. Hugh Childers, Secretary of State for War, will shortly propose in the House of Commons that a considerable increase should be made in the regular forces of the British army ; and that, with this object recruits of the age of nineteen should be accepted for service. It is further known that Mr Childers will, at the same time, propose several reforms in the organization of the army.
