(Per Reuter's Agency.) The Bank Reserve. London, Feb. 24. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is Lx7,375. 00 °- Hides and Wool. The demand for best sides of Australian hides is limited, and prices are is 4d lower. At the wool sales to-day 9,600 bales were offered. The tone of the bidding was quiet. The number of bales withdrawn from sale since the opening is 7,000, out of a total of 72,000 catalogued. The Accident to Mr Gladstone. Mr Gladstone’s physicians report that he is in no danger from the wound he received, but he requires complete rest. Shifting their Headquarters. The headquarters of the Irish Land League have been transferred to Paris, and Mr Parnell has again gone on a visit to that city. Sailing under False Colors. Capetown, Feb. 24. Telegrams have been received to-day from Sir George Colley announcing that he had reconnoitered the enemy’s position as a preparatory movement to an advance against the Boers in force. The news to hand from Natal states that it has been ascertained that a number of Dutch colonists who have up to the present time been deemed loyal, have been secretly assisting the Transvaal Boers in their operations against the British.
