DISTRICT COURT.
ASHBURTON— To-day. (Before His Honor Judge Ward.) Mangham v. Mount Hutt Road Board— Claim L 25 6s. Bd. The action was to recover the balance of an amount due for extras alleged to have been done on a contract for forming and metalling Chertsey road. Certain specifications were agreed to, some alterations in the contract were made, and several extras completed. For the latter of which the claim was now made. For the defence, the Board denied any liability beyond what they had already been paid. The hearing extended-over the greater part of the day, and many witnesses were examined. Mr. Purnell appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Holmes for defendants. Counsel having addressed the Court, his Honor ’gave [judgment for (plaintiff for Ll 5 os, Bd. with costs. Lake v. M'Kerrow and Co.—Claim L 55 16s 3d, Case adjourned till next sitting day on the application of Dr. Foster for plaintiff. In Bankruptcy—Mr. O’Reilly applied fer an order for discharge in the bankruptcy of J. Smith ; for costs in that of 11. C. Williamr.m ; and for an order to show cause in that of Timothy Hurley. The applications were granted.
