(Per Press Association.) Destructive Fire. Dunedin, To-day. Deihl and Davidson’s flour mill, at Otepopo, was burned down this morning. The insurances are—On the stock, LBOO ; building, L 3,000; machinery, L 1,500. They are divided as follows :—National, LI,000; Union, LSOO ; South British, LI ,000 ; United, LSOO ; Victoria, LI,OOO ; Standard, LSOO ; New Zealand, LBOO. Moritzou’s Case. Moritzon’s case is now on at the City Court. There was some lively work while Read, the manager of the Standard Insurance Com pan}', was under cross-ex-amination. The defence will be that the business of the company has been losely conducted, and an attempt is being made to make Moritzon a scapegoat for the extensive defalcations which have taken place. A Colored Gentleman in Trouble. Lis Medo, a colored gentleman, who has been lecturing as a phrenologist, has been arrested for obtaining money under false pretences. Against the Wind. The Committee of the Otago Cricket Association write to the Star, strongly condemning the conduct of Moore and Carr, in refusing to bowl against the wind at.the late Australian match. Both are called on for an apology.
