Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Christchurch, .for the following places (subject to necessary alterations) as under: — Saturday, JaKuary 29. For United Kingdom, via San Francisco, Continents of Europe and America, West/Ipdies, Sandwich Northern Ports of New Zealand, &c., per Hawoa, as follows: —Ordinary letters at 6.30 p.m. ; late fee letters at 7 p.m. ; books and newspapers, Ai 6' p.m. ; registered - letters, at 5 p.m. ; money orders at 3 p.m. ; guard’s van, 8.30 p.m. train.
