He opened his eyes and; pat up in bed, and then he heard a voice, which came from a phonograph attachment to the bed, enclaim “You old mucker, pile out!- if be-had mnddrstood the thing he wddld have hopped out of bed and shut'offThfe ' alarm. But he didn't, ,and th ought it was ’ burglars. So he lay down again, and pulled thecoveraoVor his head, and the bed began ;to> abate and he. thought' it was an earthquake and was terribly scared. The bed shook so that he had to cling to the mattress to keep it in; finally the bed seemed to rise up under him; and he. was hurled: violently to this floofe He,tried fq.riPe, and just then,the mattress came off upon him with great force and floored him again. He had a terrible time getting out from under it, Sid did pp, and gave a wild yell if help; a snower of ice-water came qppp; him, and then the slats of the bed began' to. whack at him, and. as he could see, but. ’little* 1 in^flre ü ßmr of Jtfiw ifootn, be thought he must jpjefep inja threshing machinS, and had, started it.
