SEVERE SNOW STORM IN EUROPE.
The Thames in F100d£2,000,000 of Mischief Done. London, Jan, 19. A very severe hurricane, accompanied by an exceedingly hertvy fall of snow, has been experienced throughout nearly' the whole of England. The railway’ lines in many places have been blocked, and traffic suspended. At several coast ports many vessels have become total wrecks owing to the fury cf the gale. , Owing to the recent heavy falls iqf snow the Thames lias risen several feet, and has overflowed . its banks. Fully "dne hundred barges have been sunk, and great damage has been done to stores arid other establishments near the river. The total loss of property is estimated at fully two millions sterling. - Later. The storm which was experienced throughout England yesterday extended to Western Europe, .without losing its severity- In many parts Oi the Continent telegraph lines were blown down, mail traffic stopped, and considerable destruction- done to property.
