(Per Press Association.) Another : Victim. Wellington, To-day. A man named J. W. Jordon, formerly
a clerk in. the Legislative Council, was found dead outside the Railway Hotel, Lower Hutt, at 5 o’clock this morning. Jordon was last seen alive last right at the hotel, where he was ' under the influence of liquor. The landlord had him put to bed and lokced the door. It is supposed that Jordon attempted to get out of the window, when ho fell and was hilled, his neck being broken. The deceased recently received L7OO, and has been drinking heavily of late. That Bar. DunEinx, To day. The Harbor Board authorities, deny that the s.s. Te Anau was drawing only 141 feet when she touched the oar. It was the last quarter of the flood tide. Fire. A four-roomed house at Port Chalmers, owned by George Madigan, was burned down last night. It was insured in the Standard Company for LI3O.
