The bodyof the seaman,Waltet Picketts, who has been missing from the schooner Fleetwing since the Slst ultimo, was found floating in the harbour to-day. From the scanty clothing bn the' body there is no doubt the deceased attempted to s vim off to the .vessel a,nd was drowned. .. Smothered. At the inquest on the infant .found dead, in bed yesterday a verdict of ‘ ‘ Accidental, suffocation” was returned. , , 7 . Supreme Court. Dunedin, Yesterday. ’ Dunedin, To-day. At the Supreme Court this morning, George Scheiv, for committing a publicnuisance, pleaded guilty, and was bound over to", appear for;sentence when called npoti;- John Russell, for burglary ftt Oamaru, received three months. This concluded the business. Sudden Death. Alfred Garn, a tailor, aged 57, whilst walking from the kitchen to his bedroom last night, fell and expired in the arms of hia family before assistance was procurable. Death occurred from natural causes. . Shoal Water. The a. s. Te Anau reports having bumped on.the bar, though drawing only feet, at three-quarter flood.
