Charcoal for Burns. —Charcoal, laid flat while cold on a burn, causes the pain to abate immediately ; by leaving it on for an hour the burn seems almost healed when the burn is superficial. The Infectiousness of Scarlatina. — A Dublin boy returned home from a school in England which had been closed through an outbreak of scarlatina. After his return home a dress was brought into the house to be sent to a lady in Belfast. The boy's jnothpr was taken ill of scarlatina aftei’ the dress, had been sent away, and the young lady to 'whoin the dress was sent died of |,carlatihA‘ ’ The bdy 'did not catch the disease himself, hujt he brought blip spefts h°W e > hd<\ote£ bis mother, and the latter transmitted t% poison in the dress she sent to her friend.
