Fire at Auckland.

Auckland, Jan. 2.

Mr. Alfred Buckland’s Haymarket Saleyards.'ivere burned down at eight o’clock Ust night. The place had been locked up since Friday, and the caretaker, who sleeps on the premises, took in some milk from fhe milkman at 6 o’clock,, but neither perceived any smell of’ burning, although it is presumed the fire must have been smouldering for some time. At 8 o’clock the caretaker’s attention was attracted bj ( the crackling of glass in the top storey windows, and in a few minutes the fire ran through the ehtire building, ■Shich was stored with flax, tow, wool, seed, &c. The Fire Brigade had a splebdid supply of water, but owing to some hay which was stored against the-Bides of the wall, they could do little more than confine the fire to the premises where it broke out. The building completely gutted.
