The trial of the Land Leaguers at Dublin has commenced, and a jury has been sworn in. Monetary and Commercial.

The latest intelligence to hand from the Cape states that the Boers have seized Utrecht, and the rebellion is spreading. A Proposal by the Porte. Constantinople, Dec. 28.
It has transpired that the Porte intends to make a proposal to the Powers that another Conference should be held to settle the Turko-Greek frontier question instead of the proposed arbitration for the same purpose.
Indian Troops for the TransvaalBombay, Dec. 29.
It is announced that, owing to reinforcements being required for the supression of the Boer rebellion in the Transvaal, a contingent of Indian native troops is being ordered to proceed immediately to Natal, and the necessary arrangements are now being made for the despatch of the forces from this port without delay. A German Squadron for the Pacific. Berlin, Dec. 29.
A report is current here that a squadron of the German navy has been ordered to be got ready to proceed to the Pacific in March next. No official confirmation of the rumor, however, has yet been published.
