The Northern district of Croatia, in South-east Austria, which last month suffered so terribly from earthquakes, has again been visited by a severe shock, which has caused further damage to the town of Agram and its surroundings The panic wli ich previously prevailed amongst the inhabitants lias been renewed with increasing intensity. The greatest consternation exists, and the gravest fears are entertained that further shocks of earthquake may have a worse effect than any yet experienced. Another Murder in Ireland. London, Dec. 9. News has been received of another serious and murderous outrage in Ireland. A bailiff, while executing a decree for eviction of a tenant from a farm at Cookstown, in the County of Tyrone, was set upon by the tenant and a number of his sympathisers, and murdered by them, before he could escape. A Sunstroke. Calcutta, Dec. 8. The Viceroy, the Marquis of Ripon, who had recently recovered from the fever which attacked him at Allahabad in the north-west provinces, is now detained at that town by a serious sunstroke which he has received. His Excellency is completely prostrated, but his medical attendants give hopes of his early recover}'. Dec. 9. Frequent telegrams have come to hand regarding the Marquis of Ripon. The latest bulletin reports that His Excellency is rapidly recovering from the effects of the sunstroke, and is now out of danger.
The Basutos. Capetown, Dec. 8. News to hand from the seat of hostilities in Basutoland and adjoining dirtiicts states that after several seven; engagements between the colonial forces and tribes of Pondos, the latter have, owing to a succession of defeats, been utterly routed.
