CONSISTENT COUNCILLORS.
TO THE EdITOB. SiE,-jfA few weeks ago, on Oct. 18th, a meeting of the Borough Council affirmed by resolution, two' members (Messrs. Harrison and Bullock) only objecting that retrenchment in salaries was a necessity, and a warm discussion took place in which Or. St. Hill as convener of the committee fired all his oratorical ordnance in support of the Retrenchment report. Independent of this, both he and Cr. Parian were loud in their out-door conversation as to the cost of the work in comparison td the value of services rendered. Can it then be true that these patriots are the Very men to propose and second a resolution last night that the Clerk be reinstated at his former salary 1 And can these inconsistent Councillors explain from whence the increase of work they spoke of has. arisen l—Yours,' &c.,- : : .
