; A meeting of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association Committee was held in the Somerset Hotel yesterday afternoon. Mr. Carter occupied the chair, and there was a fair attendance of members. -

Mr.’Passmpre seconded the -motion, which was carried, and Messrs. Carter arid Hugo Friedlarider were appointed a committee to complete the arrangements with the Council.

Smith each offered to rent thd yards, the one Ll4spei’ 'annum and the other at L 125. The Association declined-to entertain the two latter offers, as their acceptance would be a breach of faith with the County Council.' The following motion on the; subject was finally passed: ‘.‘That all the offers for the ,office of caretaker to the yards beffeclined, and that the,.decision as to caretaker be relegated to the sub-comvnittee appointed to arrange with, the, Council : for the. rent of the yards, with the recommendation that, subject to the approval of the County, Council, this committee recommends that the right of fees and entrance money to the yards be sold, provided it beat a profit to'.the Association, certain days to be retained, viz., the horse parade and the show days, and that -the Association retain the privilege of using the ground for any show they may wish to hold, taking all gate money and fees that may accrue on those, days, with any other conditions the sub-committee may think necessary for the proper working and maintenance ofthe property.”•-• . Letters were read from.the following Mr. Harrison, on the subject of the meeting night for treading papers,; Messrs. Shearman and Digby, regarding the award in the competition for • Mr. Shearman’s private prize for the best round, of corned beef; Mr, L. E. Oorsbie,makinga protest against the award made to ; Young Traducer, as he was not thoroughbred.. Mr. Corsbie was referred to the Society's regulations, and the ■ decisions of the judges in the other matters was upheld. . A rough balance sheet submitted by the Secretary showed a deficiency of LlO4 13s. 5d., if all prizes were claimed, but it was expected that this deficiency would ,be reduced tp a merely nominal figure. Mr. Passmore gave notice to, move to hold next Show before the Metropolitan Show.
