(Per Mentor’s Agency.) Aquatics, London, Nov. 2. A sculling match took place over the usual champion course on the Thames today, between Laycock, of Sydney, and Hosmer, of Boston, America, for L2OO a side. The race resulted in a somewhat easy victory for Laycock, by three lengths. London, Nov. 3. Mr. John Ireland has been appointed to act as referee in the sculling match between Trickett and Hanlan. Money and the Markets. Consols, 99|. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 50s. Five per cent. New Zealand 10-40 Loan, 101 ; Five per cent. 1880 Loan, 1021. Hennessy’s and Martelle’s brandies are quoted at lls. Affairs in Ireland. Mr. A. N. Walsh, a prominent member of the Irish Land League, and Mr. Healy, private secretary to Mr. Parnell, have been committed for trial on a charge of intimidation. County Cork has been proclaimed a disturbed district. The indictment against the Land Leaguers in Ireland has been lodged. A Famine. St. Petersburg, Nov. 3. Great fears are entertained that a famine is likely to take place throughout this country.
