Oil . Thieves. —Sevei’al larrikins have been before the Auckland R.M. Court, charged with breaking into the Oil Company’s store, and stealing thirty gallons of oil, wasting a further quantity, besides, taking away: anything liftable. The following analysis has just been received from the Colonial Analyst, which speaks much for .the genuineness of the. bread made at the Co-operative Bakery by A: Thiele. Report on the analysis of a sample of bread received from Mr. A. Thiele, Ashburton, Sept. 23, 1880 : L.N. 539 Physical characteristics, a well-made bread, clean and white, and of good taste; water, 43.04 per cent; ash, :90 per cent ; [ alum, nil ; sulphuric acid, trace ; copper, nil; iron, nil ; tartaric acid, nil; reaction of aqueous infusion, slightly acid; reaction of ash, alkaline; color of ash, white. The above analysis proves this sample of bread to be well-made, of good quality, and free from adulteration. : : A. W.
