THE AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

Sir, —In your issue of the 18th, I notice that “ Farmer who Attends ” is very angry to think that “Farmer” should be”so stupid as to doubt the success of the A. and P. Association. “Farmer who Attends ” appears to bo thoroughly satisfied with the management of the Assocition. I trust he will remain so. I hope that he and His friends will make it a success. If they do, it will have to be worked in a different way to what it has been up to the present. Then he thinks I have trodden too hard on the toes of the townspeople and merchants. lam well aware that merchants and farmers are somewhat related. In fact, more so in some cases than appears to bo pleasant. I do not wish to east any reflections on the papers that have been read, for some of them are very valuable ; but what I mean is the general working of the society, in regard to the liberal way in which people are allowed to attend. Ido not think I shall attempt to prove it. Then the parting shot, as “Farmer who Attends” calls it, is a matter of the greatest importance, however ho may try to cover it over by trying to show that “ Farmer ” paid his money in a round about way. It is always well to be sure on these points. He appears to bo very sure that I did not pay to the Secretary. Now, sir, I beg to say that I paid it to the Secretary personally in both cases. Also, since I wrote, a neighbor of mine informed me that he had paid his guinea i nd fared the same as 1 did, so I do not feel inclined to attend, or to become an agent to pursuade others, as “ Farmer who Attends ” wishes me to dp. But I will leave him and his friends to rejoice in his well-managed and thriving A. and P. Association.—l p.m, &c., A Farmer.
