The total reserve of notes and bullion in the Bank of England is L 167,500,000. Five per Cent. New Zealand Loan, 101 ; Five per Cent. iNew Zealand 1889 Loan, 102 ; Four-and-a-Half per Cent. New Zealand 1879-1904 Loan, 94£. Australian hides meet with little inquiry for most descriptions. Best Australian beef tallow, per cwt.', 31s. Bd.; best mutton tallow, 38s. 4d. Later. Consols, 99|-. Adelaide and New Zealand breadstuff's unchanged ; best sides Australian leather are quoted at Is. Bd. to la. 4d. lower. The Mails. The Homeward mails, via Brindisi, which left Melbourne on September 15, were delivered in London to-day.
