THE RECENT INQUEST AT TINWALD.

To the Editor. ■ Sir, —It having been reported that the inquest on the late John MacLauchlan, of Tinwald, was held at the request of his friends, we beg to contradict such a statement as being untrue. In fact, we made every airangement to have the remains interred On Sunday last, and were not made aware of the intended inquest until Sergeant Felton called on Saturday afternoon and said that an inquest would be held on Tuesday, which caused a great deal of annoyance to the family. They were perfectly satisfied, with Dr. Stewart’s treatment, he having attended the family ever since commencing practice in Ashburton.—l am, &c., John MacLauchlan, ’ On behalf of the whole family.
