The Christchurch Corn Exchange.
The following is the report for the week ending Friday, the 22nd inst:— There is little or no business to report upon during the past week. Any transactions taking place are of such a character as to have no effect on prices. Meantime the weather continues most favorable. The cn»ps in all parts of the country are looking extremely well, and everything bids fair for a good harvest. Wheat.- First-class milling is still a saleable article, although prices are in no way affected ; for this 4s to 4s 3d ; second quality, 3s to 3s 6d ; chick wheat, is gd to 2s gd per bushel. Oats.—Good stout milling : A fair demand exists for this quality at from is 6d to is 8d ; feed samples, is 3d to is 4d ; inferior feed, is to is 2d per bushel. Barley.—There is hardly any dusiness doing, nothing but the choicest samples meeting with any attention. Prices remain at last week’s quotations. Prime malting, 2s 8d to 3s 3d per bushel; second quality, 2s 3d to 2s fid ; feed grain, is 6d to is gd. Grass Seed.—The demand is falling off. A few orders remain unexecuted. Heavy, well cleaned farmers’ parcels are saleable at from 2s fid to 2s gd; town dressed, 3s to 3s 3d ; badly cleaned light seed, is gd to 2s 4d per bushel. Potatoes.—There arc no orders in the market, and the demand is, as nearly as possible, nil. An orders coming to hand could be executed at from 12s fid to 15s at country stations within a radius of seven miles from Christchurch, sacks extra. Cheese and Butter. - 4d to for the former, S'A to 6d for the latter.
