Judge Mansford.

In our last issue we published a telegram which in one line announced the death of Judge Mansford at Dunedin on Saturday morning. Mr. Mansford had been for some time sitting as Resident Magistrate and District Judge at Wellington, but failing health compelled him to ask for leave of absence. A twelve month’s holiday was allowed him, wind] he decided to spend in England. Prior to his departure thence, however, he went by the Hawea to Dunedin, to undergo an operation for disease in the throat, but he had only been a few hours in, the Southern city, when he died. Mr. Mansford was for a long time associated with Judge Bathgate on the Dunedin Bench, and being trained a barrister his decisions were usually unassailable Less than two years ago, he left Dunedin to assume at Wellington the position from which he bad so recently been relieved, and during his stay he earned a popularity as a Judge quite equal to that he had won in Dunedin.
