WAKANUI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

, A’lieetirlg of this Committee was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening, the 26th inst. Present —Mr. Guinney, the schoolmaster and all the members of the Committee except Mr. Charles Hill. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and, after being slightly altered, were cqnfirined. - i * •, ■ i ~i The Chairman (Mr. Earle) read a letter from Mr M‘Lauchlan, the newly-appointed schoolmaster, thanking the Committee for his appointment, and stating his readiness to commence his duties at Wakanui on the Ist of October, From Messrs. Branson and Purnell, enclosing a bill to the amount of L 4 for professional services. Resolved, to he settled as per previous agreement. The Chairman stated that he had written to Mr. Guinney, the schoolmaster, asking him to prepare a statement showing what moneys were owing to the Com’mittee by parents-whose children had been supplied with books, and by whom owing, and to attend this meeting with the statement.

Mr. Guinney, in reply to a question, said that he had prepared accounts of all moneys due for books, but had not yet issued them, v The total; amount due was L2 6s.

Resolved —That the accounts be sent to the parents at once, with a request for immediate settlement, to enable the Committee to square accounts with Mr. Guinney previous to his leaving. Resolved —That Messrs. Brown, Kilgour, and the Chairman be appointed a sub-committee, with Mr. Guinney, to meet at the school on the afternoon of Thursday, the 30th September, to take account of all school books, etc., in stock, and to balance accounts with Mr. Guinney, and report at next meeting. The Chairman stated that he expected Mr. Edge, School Inspector, up on Thursday, the 30th, to examine the school. He would like the Commit see to attend and witness the examination.

It was decided that the Chairman should convene the next meeting by letter. The meeting therefore adjourned sine die.
