THE fAMENDMENT BILL. ' ‘ (From the Fod, Wellington.), :: v The Property Assessment ‘ Act Amendment Bill has just been circulated. As it is of very 'great importance and public interqpt, we give a full summary of its provisions. Section 1 proyi lea that this Bill shall be read and construed together with The Property Assessment Act, 1879, and the two Acts together will be cited as’The Property Assessment , , Acts, 1879-1880. Section 2 runs as follows :—To the classes of property exempt from iunder the said Act, as mentioned in section 26, there shall be added the following—“ All household furniture and effects in actual use, including: books, plate,, wearing apparel, jewellery of all kinds, and tall pictures and works of art ; ;: i but such exemption ■ shall not -extend to or ; include any such article when kept or. used as stock in trade and for purposes of said.” Section 3 is as follows-—“-The statement to be furnished,; under the -thirty-second section of the Property Assessment Act,1879 (hereinafter called * the said Act shall he in the form or, to the effect set forth in the schedule ; of this Act. - All provisions of the said Act which are incansistent with this section are. hereby repealed. ” The schedule gives the following as the new form under which the statements required by the Act are to be made : • • .
