PARLIAMENTARY NOTES.

(By Telegraph from our own Correspondent. ) Wellington', Aug. 9. The announcement by the Premier that Sir Hercules Robinson would leave the colony at the end of this month, or the beginning of next, was received in silence by the House this afternoon. The statement that Sir Arthur Hamilton Gordon was to succeed him was received with loud Opposition cheers. Sir Arthur is said to be a great friend of Sir George Grey, an ardent protector of aborigines l ! and has a knack of quarrelling with his Ministers. Mr. Oliver’s Public Works Statement finds no friends on either side of the House, and would have been roughly handled this afternoon by the friends of the Government, but for a gross personal attack made on Mr. Oliver himself by Messrs. Shriraski, Pyke, and Hamlin, in which no respectable member could allow; himself to be mixed up. The Premier announced to the House this afternoon that twelve Bdls would at once be struck off the Order Paper. Nine others may go if they can’t get through without debate in a 'morning's sitting. The Licensing, Representation. and Electoral Bills are to be got through if possible. The Native Bills will be tried, but the Financial Bills are the only ones to which the Premier applies the words imst bt.
