UPPER ASHBURTON ROAD BOARD.

This Board having resolved at its last sitting to meet on the last Monday in the month, the ordinary monthly meeting took place on Monday, the 2Gth July. Present—Messrs D. M £ Lean (Chairman), Stitt and Sargent. The Overseer’s report was read. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Ashburton County Council, acknowledging receipt of Board’s cheque for L 2,000, as its share towards the construction of Digby’s bridge and protective works, and requesting a tracing of proposed road into the Forks. From the same, stating that LI 15s. expended on the' Rangitata traffic bridge ford had been placed to the Board’s credit. From the same, asking cheque for L 29 2s. 9d., being the Board’s share of cost of valuation roll. The Clerk was requested to see Mr. Guinness, and, if possible, Mr. W. O. Walker, relative to the matter. From Mr. Leach re valuation list. From Messrs. Harper, Harper, and Scott, asking payment of an account of LI Is., due in the estate of Mr. S. W. Brown, deceased. The clerk stated that probably the Ashburton Road Board was meant, as this Board had never anything to do with the late Mr. Brown. From the Mount Somers Road Board re boundary road to Lyndhurst Railway Station. FINANCES. The, Clerk was instructed to make out a statement of all rents due by tenants of Road Board cottages, with a view to recovery, and also to write to ratepayers in arrears. TENDERS AND. ACCOUNTS. The Overseer was directed to call for tenders for several works to be opened next Board day. Accounts were then passed and the Board adjourned.
