PARLIAMENTARY NOTES.

(From our. own Correspondent.). Wellington, July 26. The Rail way Commissioners’ report was laid oh the table this afternoon, and the Public Works Statement was promised early next week. ! On attempting to get into Committee of Supply, the whole afternoon was wasted by Sir George Grey and ,Co. in'following up Mr. De Lautour’s attacks, on Mr. Bryce re tne Patetere block of’ land.' It took, however, a very mild form, and all the damaging accusations were practically withdrawn as untenable. Only the last ten minutes of the afternoon were spent on the Estimates, and nothing was done. Mr. Hall expressed a hope that they would be got through on Wednesday night, and that the session would close by the end of next month. It is difficult to understand why the Government insist upon getting through the Estimates before they have got through their principal Bills, as it is certain that they are losing a great deal of time in the attempt, and giving unlimited opportunities of hindering business to their opponents.
