Adelaide wheat, per 496ib5., ex warehoase, 495.; New Zealand wheat, ex ship, 495. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,720,000 quarters. Scotch pig iron, 535. per ton; galvanised iron Ll 7 10s.; copra, LlB. There are very heavy wheat shipments from America. It is expected that there will be a deficiency in the Russian wheat supply. . , The Orient steamer Cusco arrived at Plymouth yesterday, and the John Elder, owned by the same company, sailed from Plymouth for Australia^to-day. London, July 8. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is L 16,500,000. The Australians were to have played against Eighteen of Broughton, at Broughton, but owing to the inclemency of the weather the match has been postponed. London, July 9. News has been received from Pekin that Ching Haw, late Chinese Ambassador at St. Petersburg!!, who was reputed to have been beheaded, but was, as now transpires, only impeached by his Government for his action in connection with the conclusion of the Kuldja Treaty with Russia, has been reprieved. It is further stated that this step is indicative that the Chinese Government desires to make peace with Russia. The Marquis of Lansdowne has resigned his position as Under-Secretary of State fori India, because he is opposed to the Irish Elections Bill which has been introduced by the Government. July 10. The Times, in a leader, expresses its astonishment at the rejection of Mr. Service’s Reform of the Constitution Bill, and considers that the same should have received a fair trial. The match between the Australians and Eighteen of Broughton, at Broughton, which was postponed, took place to-day. The Australians went in first, and were disposed of for 107 runs. The Home team then went in for their first innings, and were all out for 106 runs. The Australians then went in for their second innings, and made 99 runs. In the second innings of the Broughton team, when stumps wore drawn, eleven wickets had fallen for 151 (?) runs. The match was drawn. Deesvoex, who was acting as Governor of Fiji in the absence of Sir Arthur Gordon, has been appointed Governor of the Bahamas, in the West Indies. In the House of Commons to-day, the Bill for granting compensation to Irish tenants under certain conditions, which was read a second time on Tuesday, came under discussion in Committee to-day. A prolonged discussion took place upon an amendment proposing a modification of the measure. The Home Rulers opposed the proposal, and the House adjourned without arriving at any decision. V ' N Wellington, July 12. , At the tShpreme Court the second trial of John Wilson, for indecently assaulting a child aged six years, is how proceeding. A deputation of the goldfields members waited on the Premier to-day, to urge the necessity of greater Ministerial attention being devoted to goldfield matters and to the gold mining industry in general. The Premier, in reply, said it was proposed to make an arrangement of the portfolios at the end of the session, so that the Minister who might hold the portfolio of Mines might be able to devote more time and attention to the subject than hitherto had been possible.
