Ashburton Guardian Oflice, Monday Evening. Alfred Harrison reports holding a sale for the trustees in the estate of George Parkin, at his rooms, Havelock street, on Wednesday (first day), Juno 15, when the properties disposed of were as follows . Dwelling-house, workshops, and three sections, L 660 ; two cottages and section, L 155; twenty-nine suburban sections ranged from L3lls. to L 7155.; six blocks, each 2 acre, brought LlO to Ll 6 per acre. On the second day, Thursday, June 16th, in the same estate, the whole of the stock-in-trade, machinery, horses, etc., were disposed of. The stock-in-trade sold at fair prices considering the times. The following also were knocked down to the highest bidder—Four-horse engine and boiler, LSO ; general joiner, L4O ; mortising machine, LlO ; six draughts and hacks found buyers at from L 3 to 131 ; light trap, Ll 3 10s.; spring cart, LG ; the harness and sundries sold fairly. On Saturday, June 19, Alfred Harrison’s weekly sale was well attended. Several hacks and light draughts sold moderately well. A line of pigs brought LI 11s. each, or about 6d per lb. full. A consignment of trees sold very well indeed. Potatoes brought L2 per ton ; chick feed, Is. 6d. per bushel; barley. Is. do.; carrots, 30s. per ton; apples, 6s. Gel. per case ; cheese. 4d. to 4|-d. and 6d. A large quantity of sundries were sold, during the disposal of a part of which (wearing apparel and household effects) the bidding was very lively, roars of laughter repeatedly shaking the structure ; however no accidents happened, and all left heavily laden and well pleased.
