Sir, Made a Registrar where there wa« not any law ; With the Councils' permission They form'd a Commission, They proolaim'd your own property was nt your ow Drove us out of our senses, Pay heavy expenses ♦Till the whole of the cash from our pockets has flown 3 * And then, D 1 trust'em, They clapped on the Costoms, And humbugged the shipping with fifty fin* rules And first thing off band, Sir, ;,They auctioned some land, Sir, And drew all the Blunt from the poor Auckland fool The matter to mend then, This mouey to spend then, \' And not to be rusting untouched in the dark, i Hired Attorneys, Surveyors, v And]Pr.»:ectors, Purveyors, ,4>Harboiir Masters, Surgeons, and all twits of clerks. 4 By legere de main, Sir, Orlsomethingthe same, Sir, 'They convarted an Act against cutting an Ash Into a Notice so fine Sir, Against cutting your pine, Sir, Upon your own land—oh, what terrible trash, They offered all round Sir. A reward of five pound-Si-, Who would bring offenders to justice you know, But the folk cut away, Sir, And do to this day, Sir, And they soon found th«ir faru'd Proclamation no go 5 Then the Governor died, And was buried beside. And Willui,»bby Shortland took bold of tie reins, He proclaimed and declared, To refuse if they dared To assist hi in with all of the blood in their veins ; How he bullied and blustered, " And humbugged and flustered, And set all the Doctors and Writers agog, And acted when able, Mure like in the fable The Cormorant stork, than King T ig to the frogs, 6 Then we all can remember One day in December, We received anew ruler, one Captain Fits Roy, And how at the levee He hit Shortland so heavy And flattered the Doctor, that broth of a boy, How to work he began Sir, On the go-a-bead plan Sir, And speedily answered the Land Claimants' call : For be settled their claims Sir, Without Godfrey or Spain, Sir, And be pitched to the d 1 the Council and all. 7 And then so acute, he So n knocked off all doty, Collectors Tidewaiters and Storekeepers too, And then for more sport sir, He made all free ports sir, Harbour masters and Pilots then soon got their doe ; To the copper faced nation He made proclamation, That they might-just by asking him sell their own land He swore hv his nick.be Would punish John Heki, But, forgave wheu they laid down their arms in their h'mds. 8 And then at all ventures He issues debentures, And we all fly our kites, now the wind's rais'dso high Then come here my honey, You've no need of money !
