Mr. Lawry in the Chair, the following Resolutions were unanimously passed : Ist. Resolved ; That it appears to this Meeting very desireabie to instruct a selected number bf the Natives of New Z,a!a,nd in our language, with a view to their having access to the stores of English Literature, and also to their becoming more efficient teachers of' their countrymen, both in matters of religion, and civiiizition. Resolved ; That as the vicinity of Auc,k. land is deemed the most eligible locality for the comrnehcemerit of such an Institution, an earh application shall be made to the Colonial Govern. Resolved ; Tbat a provisional committee be appointed for the purpose of raising funds, and controuling the same; that Dr. Martin,. Messrs. Brown, Cleghorn, Cormack, W\ S. and G. Grahame and Vaile, be members of the Committee, together with the Wesleyan Missionaries, the Treaanrer and Secretary. (Ex Officio.) Moved by the Rev. LOST,— TWO DESK SEALS, one a White Cornelian, with an engraved Coat of Arras, consisting of a shield, over which is a stag’s head with a rose in its moulh—the other a Red Cornelian, with an engraved crest, stag’s head, as before, over a medallion, with the letters “ W.H.’ in old English, encircled in the motto," Vincit omnia 1 verilas,” As the above can be of no value except to the : owner, the finder is particularly requested to leave them at the " Exchange Hotel,” to whom a reward o' £,i will be given.
