NATIVE FEAST.
The celebrated Maori Feast takes place this week, somewhere between Auckland and Epsom, bat as we are not favoured with an invitation, and they have not the courtesy to send us so much as a list of the Toasts that are to be drank, we may perhaps, take offence, aud not send our reporter > or pablisb their speeches in the “ Chronicle." As it regards the quantity of provisions consumed, we believe it will rival the celebrated feasts given in days of yore by the Neville Family, and the heroio ;Earl of Warwick, to the Court and Nobility of England ; but as to the delicacy of the viands, why “Chacun a son gout."
i We are informed there will be present theseve* ral tribes known by the names of the GnawTiatu®' !Gna to Kakete, Gna w te Mabo, Gna to te Manias :pato, Gna w te Mahautus, Gna w te Mahanga, Gna w te Ruru, Gna w te Hbnetu, Nga w te Pd, besides the Natives of Taopo and Tauronga. We were at first much surprise d, and inclined to be rather incredulous about the Salons of potatoesj, the 100 fat pigs, and especially that prodigious litem in the bill of fare, 9000 sharks, but we are now quite satisfied it is true,, seeing so many veteran trencher-men and experienced gnawers wilt be in the field.
