The Chinese, in the silver they have recently sent home, have inserted small pings of iron, but tbe great mass is of so pure a metal thats its value is still of sterling quality. Sir Charles Scudamore has quilted London for Greatenberg, for the purpose ol investigating the merits of the water cure. The French Court went in mourning for the Duke of Sussex,on the 2nd June, aod coutinued for eleven days. Ibrahim Pacha, the son of Mehemet Ali, is expected to arrive shortly at Toulon, where orders have been given to receive him with all the honours due to his rank. His object in visiting Franca ia said to be to examine into all its institutions, and, in particular, to visit its maratime ports. A number of gentlemen connected with the wine and spirit trade in Edinburgh, feeling themselves aggrieved by private gentlemen dividing pipes of wine, brandy, &c., .among their friends, made application to the Board of Excise, requesting their opinion as to its legality, and their prompt answer was that there could not be a doubt, but thepracs tice was illegal.
